Hello, I look forward to working with you! Here's a brief summary of my experience:

After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Northern Michigan University, I received a Masters in Oriental Medicine from the International Institute of Chinese Medicine and a Doctor of Oriental Medicine (DOM) in Santa Fe, NM.

I am a licensed Acupuncturist and Chinese Herbologist through the National Certification Committee of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) as well as through the State of Colorado.

I've been established in Acupuncture and Chinese herbology in Colorado for over 20 years. My experience has been in both Western Allopathic and Chinese Medicines.

With my past education and experience, I truly believe that there is a place for both types of medical modalities, but it is best to facilitate and encourage the body's amazing natural healing processes first. Better yet, my major philosophy is taking care of the body to prevent illness or disharmony from ever occurring. I practice acupuncture that encompasses the modalities of Electro-Acupuncture Medicine, Balance Method (Dr. Tan), Korean Hand Technique, Sujok Therapy, Auricular Acupuncture and Trigger Point Release to name a few.

Your first visit will begin with an in-depth assessment of your condition and an initial treatment. The intake and treatment is an hour and a half. Typical follow-up treatments last approximately 45-50 minutes.

During the assessment, you may be asked about things that you might not think are connected to your chief complaint, such as your emotions, sleeping patterns, and eating habits. Chinese medicine considers the whole person, not just one isolated symptom. When put together, all of the symptoms and signs you are experiencing reveal patterns of disharmony. Although treatment will focus on your chief complaint, your whole being must be considered in order to develop the most appropriate course of treatment. Chinese medicine is unique in that it appreciates that illnesses may be identical, but the persons suffering from them are individuals.

In treatment, I make sure to create and maintain a serene, comfortable and relaxed environment. Comfort in positioning, room temperature, and even music are very important. Treatment modalities include: acupuncture, auriculotherapy, herbology, moxibustion, cupping, nutritional, diet, and supplementation therapy. It is recommended that you wear loose comfortable clothing to your treatment.

After treatment, your relief may be immediate, delayed for a few hours, or even develop after one to three days. The relief may last for a few hours on the first visit and then last longer with each successive treatment, or relief may last from the first treatment until your next visit. Individual response to treatment varies.

Side effects are rare. On these occasions, one's original symptoms may briefly get worse, or "flare-up," after a treatment. A flare-up typically occurs later on the day of your treatment and should only last for a few hours. It is similar to a cold getting worse before it gets better. After a flare-up, your symptoms should begin to improve.

I welcome the opportunity to earn your trust and deliver a very comfortable and relaxing acupuncture experience.

Thanks for your time,

Jennifer
